THRESHOLD: SOMATIC VOICE AND SOLAR RITUAL TO RECONNECT TO LOVE AT THE TURNINGS OF THE YEAR
The eight solar thresholds have been marked by human communities for thousands of years. In Celtic lands and across civilisations worldwide communities have gathered to honour the turnings of the year: the Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice, along with the cross-quarter days between them: Samhain, Imbolc, Beltaine and Lughnasadh.
The wheel of the year offers a way of seeing, a lens through which the turning of the earth becomes a mirror for the turnings of our inner lives. Through orienting ourselves with the solar wheel and tending to thresholds, we gift ourselves attunement to what is alive in us. There are endings we mourn, flourishings we acknowledge and beginnings we welcome. We metabolise our human experience in ways that bring renewal, and connect to our place on our earth and in our lives, holding awareness of our cyclical nature and our participation in the vast expanse of deep, cyclical time.
The Threshold course utilises personal vocal ritual practice for the turning of the year. Using the voice as a somatic and meditative tool, we move through the ancient Buddhist framework of the four Brahmaviharas; loving kindness, compassion, appreciative joy and equanimity, sending our intentions for the coming season into the body as vibration. The practice is rooted in Tantric Vocal Nidra and is informed by somatic neuroscience and contemplative tradition.
This practice is for people who want to work intentionally with seasonal transition, using the body, the voice and contemplative practice as tools for personal enquiry and renewal.
The course can be returned to at each of the eight solar thresholds throughout the year.
