Trees
‘All plants are our brothers and sisters. They talk to us, and if we listen, we can hear them’ – Arapaho.
Have you ever wondered what oak can teach you about your soul? Why hazel tea was revered by our ancestors? What lessons and support the wild world has to offer?
The benefits of learning to perceive our Earth through an ethnobotanical lens are two-fold. We become more empowered to tend to our physical health by equipping ourselves with practical knowledge of the medicinal properties of wild species, rooted in ancestral traditions and supported by modern science. On an emotional and spiritual level, connecting with the insight offered in ancient stories of the plants that surround us and breathing mystical meaning into them helps us to feel connected to, and held by wild allies. These relationships nurture a profound sense of belonging to place, to lineage, and to the wider web of all living things.
Body
'Nature stroked my hair and held my hand. I was caught, a burr on the leg of her, hooked on wonder and abundance.' - Lucy Jones
When we move through wild spaces with embodied presence we collaborate with natures mission to regulate our nervous system and relax on a deep and profound level. Through guided practice, we will cultivate our capacity for embodied, expansive, engaged, and receptive awareness. This intentional way of being in nature becomes both a personal practice and a reciprocal relationship, one that nourishes our own wellbeing while deepening our connection to the living world around us.
Voice
‘The earth has music for those who listen.’ - George Santayana
'What can voice teach us about our experience of the wild? How can our sound be used a tool for connection? What can trees offer to our creative expression? Through guided practice that connects outer landscapes to inner landscapes using the pathway of our voice we will build on all we have explored and journey into the realms of vocal improvisation. We will join intimately to nature through our voices and marvel at the creative, fresh, gentle and feral arisings.
